Hello. My name is Amal. I graduated from the University of California, Davis where I received a B.S in Landscape Architecture. Design has been in my life for as long as I can remember, and fashion is no exception. Each piece of clothing, shoes, or accessory for me, is like an element that I have learned to turn into one cohesive landscape -only instead of water fountains, flower, and trees I get to do it with clothes, shoes and jewelry.
For me the world of fashion has always been a little different. I am a Muslim-American, and modesty plays a very big role when it comes to how I dress. So what does that mean for me? It means no mini-skirts, or tank-tops, shorts or beautiful strapless dresses.
But that is okay. Because it does mean every color jean, fun sweaters and cardigans; beautifully tailored shirts and lots, and lots of shoes and accessories.
So if you are maybe wondering, “Why is this blog so different?”: here is the reason?
On the first glace it may not be. But if you look closely you will see that I am all covered up. People ask me, “Don’t you get hot?” or “Don’t you wish or want to wear a skirt or bathing suit?” And the answer may be yes sometimes, but more so I love where I come from and I love having modesty in my life. Because I hope that it just does not reflect in my fashion sense, but how I carry myself as well.
So what is blog will hopefully provide:
Fashion and modesty, two things that I hope to seam effortlessly. Be it others creations that I style together, or my own that I dream up and sew. I hope that my inspirations can also become yours.
Enjoy and happy fashioning.
